FLYING FÖRTRESS | ONLINE SHOP
Hamburg based artist Flying Förtress started to do classic graffiti in the early 90’s. After a couple of years he felt himself stuck in a one-way alley so he quit writing and focused on his graphic studies. Back with new ideas and influences he arose again at the beginning of the millennium and hit the streets back with his infamous Teddy Troops. First they appeared on posters, stickers and as pieces on the walls but later also turned into the third dimension as an urban vinyl toy. The Troops are still getting sent out to occupy the public and private space. He has been traveling around the world for exhibitions to places like Paris, Barcelona, London, Berlin, Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo, Melbourne and New Zealand.
"Have been on mission of classic graffiti since 1989. Stopped graffiti in around ’95 because of getting stuck in a one-way alley as the whole scene had been at that point of time. After studies of graphic design I got back in the streets by sending out a proper army of my iconic teddy-troops. Using any kind of medium: stickers, posters, spray, paint…. After I had occupied my local territories I started to invade also other countries".
In 2004 the Teddy Troops were released as urban vinyl toys by AdFunture. Since nowadays there have been more than 25 different designs released. Designs were contributed by artists like Dave The Chimp (UK), Jeremy Fish (US), Seen (US), KRSN (FR), Frank Kozik (US), Parskid (US), 123Klan (CA), Alexone (FR), Joe Ledbetter (US), Buffmonster (US), The London Police (NL), D*Face (UK), Mr.Jago (UK).
